What we do
KinectAir is creating a platform to access affordable on-demand private air travel, using efficient aircraft
and smart software. Conceived and started by Jonathan Evans; an Army veteran, professional pilot, and successfully- exited
entrepreneur. After selling his drone operations management company, Skyward, to Verizon in February 2017, Jonathan began
aggregating the network and experience needed for his next company. The launch team that joins him in founding KinectAir is
comprised of professional aviators, technologists, legal counsel, and seasoned entrepreneurs. The team has developed a shared
vision that brings to bear the full breadth of skills and knowledge it takes, to build a trusted air service from the
ground-up around a company that has software in its soul. We're currently offering private flights through our trusted
network of vetted certificated aircraft operators. We are also acquiring our own FAA certificate that’ll allow us to fly our
own aircraft including the Cirrus SR22, Diamond DA-62 and Pilatus PC12. Additionally, we’re changing where and when you fly.
Instead of the traditional Hub & Spoke model of flying, we can take advantage of our lean team and right-sized aircraft to
implement a nodal network. Nodes are more efficient; our guests' time is honored and we burn less than half the fuel of
traditional routes to hubs. Our guests also skip the TSA lines by using local, private terminals that are closer to where they
live. Guests set their departure time and can arrive 15 minutes before their flight leaves. At KinectAir, we want to move
people. Not just in space and time, but emotionally. We want the experience of air travel to be joyful and to inspire again.
Our 'why' is that the journey is the destination, and we should all be empowered to craft our journeys in artful ways.
We provide aircraft and software as noble tools in this craft.
KinectAir Pilots
KinectAir is currently brokering flights on FAA certificated part 135 operators that our team has vetted. All of the captains
you’ll fly with are capable, experienced turbo-prop pilots, with specific knowledge and hours flying in the northwest. They
are not currently employees of KinectAir, but work directly with our Director of Aviation Operations, and concierge services.
Rest Assured
Unlike many light aircraft operators, KinectAir Pilots are seasoned, career Captains who are Airline Transport Certified and
have held leadership positions with commercial airlines, air ambulance, corporate flight departments, and the U.S. Military.
Our pilots undergo KinectAir training in which the focus is on our most precious cargo: you. It's a priority of our
leadership team and paramount to our entire operation that we recruit, acquire, train, and retain pilots uniquely suited for
our Adventurers to call them "Captain".
Our philosophy is simple
We are people driven. At KinectAir, we believe that if we take care of our pilots, that they will in turn take care of our
guests, and our business. KinectAir knows the value of highly qualified aircraft personnel; after all, we are a company
founded by professional pilots. Our pilots are expected to exceed standards of excellence in leadership, safety, and training.
Cheapest Way to fly Private
There are 3 basic choices that make charter flights more affordable. The biggest factor in the cost of your private flight is
the choice of aircraft. Flying in a Gulfstream G650 will cost you about $10,000 per hour while flying in a Pilatus PC-12 costs
about $2,000 an hour.
Each aircraft has its niche
The G650 can directly connect just about any 2 points on earth at 600 miles an hour. If you want to fly direct to Tahiti,
Bali, or any other place on the globe, this plane makes it easy. All schedules are on demand so you can fly 7,000 miles
overnight and wake up rested, ready to start your day. Speed is another bonus. Jets like this allow you to spend less time in
the air and more time where you want to be which really makes a difference on long flights.
Cost
With an aircraft like that, why fly anything else? Sadly, all that speed and rage comes at a cost. It is expensive to fly
because the jet burns a ton of fuel and because of its speed, it requires longer runways to operate. Many of the convenient,
regional airports are off-limits to the G650 and you wouldn't even consider a grass field airstrip much less a gravel one.
You are essentially limited to the same airports that all of the commercial flights use and miss out on the convenience of
local airports and the flavor of Locher airfield in the Italian alps or fly in ranch resorts in Montana.
Cheaper Options
So what are some cheaper options for private flights? The Pilatus PC-12 has a comfortable 8 executive passenger, pressurized
cabin. Because of its turbo prop configuration, it operates for about 1/3 the cost of some jets. It also happens to be the
aircraft that I flew into the Darfur region of Sudan for a medical relief mission so it is more than capable of a cargo
configuration and landing on rough fields. The Swiss made aircraft is versatile, modern, and at 80 cents an available seat
mile, it is also affordable to fly.
Book Empty Legs to Avoid Repositioning Costs
Empty legs or repositioning flights the second biggest factor in the cost of your flight. Most operators will have to move an
aircraft to pick you up because they don't already have one at your departure location. The same goes for your destination.
The operator doesn't want to leave the aircraft in Aspen while you go skiing for the week so they will charge to fly it back
to their home base or onto another customer location. You can make small adjustments to your itinerary that have big
consequences. Working with the operators schedule so that you pick up someone else's empty leg could easily save you 25%. If
you can work out your plans so that you have a same day out and back flight, it will likely be half the cost of an overnight
trip because you will either be charged to keep the plane and crew somewhere overnight or charged to fly it home without you.
Fill The Seats
Last but not least, filling the seats makes a difference. While there are some companies working toward selling single seats
on private aircraft the way you would on commercial, most of the time you have the whole plane to yourself. This means that if
you fly the PC-12 by yourself from San Francisco to Palm Springs it could cost you $9k round trip. But, If you took the kids
or some friends along with you, it works out to $380 a person which is a pretty good deal for a private flight. Flying private
doesn’t have to be expensive if you choose the right aircraft for the job, plan your trip carefully and fill the seats. It is

Pick The Right Location
Some destinations are more expensive than others because it will be harder for the company to reposition the aircraft. There
are almost always cheap private flights to Vegas because its popular and easy to keep the aircraft booked. The other
consideration is landing fees and ramp fees for private terminals. At some international airports like San Francisco (SFO)
this can add several hundred dollars to each leg of a trip.
Optimize
Flying private doesn’t have to be expensive if you choose the right aircraft for the job, plan your trip carefully and fill
